our sustainable and ethical approach
Over the years, as the business has become 90% focused on Wreath Making, we have spent a huge amount of time working on our supply chain to ensure we are using truly sustainably grown and harvested materials in our workshops. Minimising air miles is a priority for us so we source our products as locally as we can.
Our search has taken us to Scotland, Wales and Ireland, building relationships directly with farmers and learning a huge amount about where and how our raw materials come from. We have physically walked in the fields that most of our stock was grown and seen the massive amount of work that goes into the production and pay our famers fairly for their labour. We work with specialist foliage growers but also have found alterative methods of sourcing fresh materials from some of our neighboring farms in Sussex.
During our workshops we give background information on where are materials are sourced from, along with photographs, for those who are keen to learn more about this.
We always use recycled packaging when available and we take active steps to reduce packing waste when we are buying our supplies. For our farmers who deliver directly from the fields (moss, nobil fir & Sussex evergreens) we send back the empty bags and they get reused for our next deliveries.
At our studio you will find compostable hygiene gloves, recycled hand towls and eco freindly cleaning materials. Single use plastic is avioded at all costs and we are always happy to put the time and effort into researching alternative solutions. We steam clean eqipment to minimise the use of chemicals.
There are areas that we look to improve on in the coming years and are always happy to hear suggestions and ideas of how we can do this!
