Expect blue skies year round with the Costa del Sol having the mildest winter in Europe. Currently the only room with air conditioning is the living room and the bedrooms/office have ceiling fans.

The house is situated on Mijas Golf with one of the bedrooms serving as a fully functional office with views of the mountains. There are two South facing terraces to enjoy the Andalucian sunshine.

The house is a shared family home. We have had 3 working adults and one toddler living in the space throughout the summer and managed to all have our own private work spaces during the daytime. Our furniture and sleeping setup is flexible to allow for three proper bedrooms (one currently only has sofa bed) or to create two seperate office spaces and a master bedroom - none encroahing on the main living area. The things that bought us to this part of Spain were:

  • Access to Malaga airport with good European flight routes

  • Year round great climate (fish on the BBQ in January!)

  • Low cost of living compared to most European countries

  • Ease of day-to-day communicating for non-Spanish speakers. As we are so close to major tourist areas you can get by without a daily struggle while doing every day tasks

  • Access to international nurseries & family entertainment

  • Good and reliable internet connection for remote working

The house is an ongoing project and although we have worked really hard sprucing it up since we got the keys in April 2022, there are things that are worth noting to ensure our guests have a great stay with no surprises:

  • The house only has one air conditioning unit in the living room. The property was built to stay cool and with the windows and doors left open (all have security grates) a decent indoor temperature can be maintained through natura airflow and the ceiling fans. The fireplace is unavailable and unsafe to use without booking a chimney sweep first. Please contact me if you would like me to arrange this.

  • There are a few outstanding decor items that will be not changed until April 2023 prior to our first formal rental. For example the lightbulbs do not all match but it feels wasteful to throw them away! We also have a non-functioning wine fridge that we are keeping as a wine rack.

  • We ask guests to help maintain our beautiful plants (indoors and outdoors) by watering once a week. We will have our cleaner enter the property a second time a week to water too. Our english speaking cleaner will happy arrange any cleaning work you wish to be done for 10euros per hour.

  • As this is a personal property 4 of the storage cupboards are locked and unavailable to guests. The large wardrobe in the master is fully available to guests and there is a hanging rack in the second bedroom. If using the office for a small child we have a kids hanging rack too.

  • Although we have our 3 year old stay at the property it couldn’t be classed as baby/child freindly due to the sheer amount of stairs in the home. If you have safety (or accessibility) concerns please refer to the video to clarify the setup, in particular the access to the atrium from the stairs. Baby bath, travel cot & stairgate as are available for guests to use.

  • A car is neccessary at the property to make the most of the local area. Good value taxis can be arranged on Uber & Bolt for nights out but for day-to-day getting around we believe a car is essential. Moped rental is also available locally.

  • The house has a washing machine but no tumble drier. The kitchen has a dishwasher.

  • Any damages to the property/contents are to be paid for by the guests. Any stained linens will be charged for.

The property would ideally suit a couple, small family or sharers.
